5 places that make you look older than your age; hint it’s not your face

From the time I was 17 years old, I have been trying to make sure I don’t have any visible signs of ageing. Yes, I know ageing is normal but that doesn’t mean I want to look my age.

I know my face is sorted, but some sneaky places show our age without our knowledge.

Here are some areas that often show our age and tips on how to keep them youthful:

1. Hands ️:

Think about it, your hands are constantly exposed to the elements and are often neglected. This means that hands can show signs of ageing like wrinkles, dryness, and sun spots. So if you are ignoring how your hand looks you are making a huge mistake.

Anti-ageing Tips:

  1. Apply sunscreen daily to any part of your hands that is exposed
  2. Use a rich hand cream especially if it goes into the water
  3. Wear gloves when gardening or cleaning.

2. Neck

Your neck is super delicate and has less collagen and elastin, it is more prone to wrinkles and sagging. In addition, your skin is just as exposed to the elements as your face and should get the same treatment!

Antiageing Tip:

  1. Extend your face skincare products down to your neck, especially sunscreen.

3. Forehead

This was the area that started my skincare quest. Yes, noticing worry lines at 7 made me start taking care of my skin. Worry lines and crow’s feet can make their unwelcome appearance due to frequent facial expressions( I frowned a lot). When your face moves your skin creases just like a piece of paper and over time the lines form and become deeper and permanent.

Antigaing Tip:

  1. Wear sunglasses to reduce squinting especially if you are sun sensitive
  2. Use a retinol-based cream to stimulate collagen production
  3. Consider botox injections for deeper lines.

4. Décolletage

This is French for the often-neglected area between the breasts and up to your neck area. This area is even more prone to sun damage because of constant exposure and it is one of the places that screams AGE!

Antiageing Tip:

  1. Make sure to apply moisturisers liberally to that area.
  2. Apply sunscreen as often as you do to your face.
  3. Use a gentle exfoliator like lactic acid to get rid of any dead cells and dullness.

5. Eyes

This is the big kahuna when it comes to showing age, dark circles, puffiness, and even hollowness can add years to your age. The eye area is extremely sensitive with much less collagen than other parts of your body which means it will age and show age much faster.

Antiaging Tips:

  1. Always, always get enough sleep
  2. Use eye creams that target your specific eye issues (darkness, wrinkles, or hollowness )
  3. Filler, some eye issues cannot be managed with creams the only option is filler.

When it comes to ageing prevention is key! It is much easier to prevent the signs of ageing instead of treating them.

If you incorporate these tips into your daily routine, you will slow down the signs of ageing to maintain a youthful appearance for much longer and feel confident in your skin.
