If you haven’t heard about the ordinary’s Niacinamide and zinc serum, where have you been! This is serum is a godsend and has been a bestseller since its release a few years ago and has been in my skincare rotation ever since.
The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum is a combination of Niacinamide (Vitamin B3). This combination works because Niacinamide reduces congestion, the appearance of blemishes as well as balancing the sebum (oil) levels of your skin. It also improves your skins barrier function helping it retain moisture and texture. Zinc on the other hand anti-inflammatory and fights against free radical damage reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Appearance and packaging
The serum comes in the ordinary’s standard packaging, a frosted 30 ml bottle with a dropper
How to use
The Niacinamide and Zinc serum should be introduced gradually into your skincare regimen especially if you have sensitive skin. I personally didn’t suffer any side effects when I started using it and used it daily from the start. Another caveat is that it shouldn’t be used at the same time as your vitamin C serum because they can react negatively with each other. So use your vitamin C serum in the morning that way it protects you from free radicals and use Niacinamide and Zinc at night to treat your skin. The serum should be applied before your moisturizer and oil treatments.

Rating
Performance: 5/5 – This is a really great product that does exactly what it promises, reduce breakouts and congestion. Within a few days maximum of a week the number of active acne reduced significantly.
Quality: 5/5 it comes in basic packing with a dropper, however, this allows it to remain affordable but effective. No money is spent on the packaging that isn’t helpful to the efficacy of the product.
Value for money: 5/5 – it costs $9.80 if you are buying directly from the brand website, understandably in Nigeria, the price is slightly higher but even then it is great value for money and you get your money’s worth.
Ease of use: 4/5 – It is extremely easy to use, just put a few drops in your face and pat in and you are good.
Overall rating: 5/5 – I love it because it does exactly as promised and is affordable to boot!
