REVIEW: Innisfree Apple Seed Cleansing oil

Innisfree Apple Seed Cleansing oil

I have written extensively about the benefits of double cleansing (I even have a free guide ) in addition have discussed the benefits of using oil versus a balm cleanser. A few months ago I bought the Innis free Apple seed cleansing oil during one of my skincare buying binges. Because I had so many products didn’t get the chance to use it until recently and decided to give it a try.

What is it?

It is an oil cleansing balm which is best used for the first cleanse to remove dirt and makeup prior to the actual cleansing of your skin. Generally, oil cleansers tend to provide a deeper cleanse so are best used for oily skin which is my skin type.

What does it do?

Innis free apple seed cleansing oil removes the first layer of dirt and because of the similarity to the oil produced by the skin. In addition, Vitamin C from the apple seed oil has other skin-boosting benefits and is found to be good for dry or mature skin.

Appearance and packaging

The Innis free apple seed cleanser comes in a transparent green plastic bottle with a pump which makes it easy to dispense. One of the things I like about the packaging is that the bottle comes with a clip to stop the product coming out inadvertently.

How to use

Like other oil cleansers, it is best applied to dry skin and rubbed in with circular motions until makeup and grease are fully dissolved. Typically I use 1-2 pumps and gently massage cleanser onto my skin add water and massage with your fingertips to emulsify the cleanser. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and follow with a water-based cleanser if I am double-cleansing. I use it in the morning as my sole cleanser to cleanse my skin without over stripping off its natural oils.

Results

This is a very effective cleanser with a scent like green apples that takes off all my makeup when properly massaged in. One of the benefits is that it emulsifies completely when water is added and washes of with absolutely no residue. It is a very gentle cleanser and doesn’t strip my skin’s natural oils and moisture so is a good cleanser for people with dry skin.

Cost : $12.95 -$16

Pros

  • Non-irritating and my skin feels baby soft after use
  • A bottle lasts about 2-3 months.
  • Emulsifies and rinses of with just  water
  • Its fresh green apple scent
  • Very affordable

Cons

  • If you’re not into fragrance, this may not be the product for you

Who is it for?

This product works for all skin types

Rating

Performance: 5/5 – This is a really great product that takes off all your makeup. Even better emulsifies and washes off with just water which is a pet peeve of mine.

Quality: 4/5- it comes in basic packing with a clamp on the pump that prevents pilling oil even in transit.

Value for money: 5/5 – The cost ranges from $12.95 to $16 for 150 MLS making it cost-effective. Even with daily use, it lasts a long time which means you more than get your money’s worth.

Ease of use: 4/5 – It is extremely easy to use, 2 pumps and you are good to go. However, since it is an oil it is more likely to spill.

Overall rating: 4/5 – I love it because it does what it says on the tin and is also affordable. What’s not to love?
