5 TIPS TO MAKE YOUR LIPSTICK LAST LONGER
1. Exfoliate and moisturise
Flaky, dry lips do not take colour well. For well-moisturised lips, apply a lip balm or coconut oil every night before going to bed. Before applying any lip colour make sure to exfoliate your lips gently with a sugar scrub to remove the flaky patches. Then apply lip balm or petroleum jelly and leave it on for a while before applying lipstick.
2. Prime and prep your lips
Before applying lipstick to your makeup you can outline your lips with a concealer. It acts as a lip primer and will prevent spill outs and smudging at the edges which makes your lipstick stay longer. If you have dry skin you may also need to prep your lips with a primer
3. Line and fill
One of the best tips is to make sure to apply lip liner correctly. Correctly, in this case, means to line and fill in your lips completely with a liner. For the best results use a lip liner that matches your lipstick this ensures the perfect lip colour that lasts.
4. Always use a brush for application
Use a brush to apply lipstick starting at the centre of both your top and bottom lips. Then fill in your lips starting from the edges to the centre, and follow it through with the top lip. Take care to fill in properly at the edges and then move towards the centre.
5. Use the powder and tissue trick
After you have applied lipstick, take one half of tissue and press it between your lips to absorb the excess. Now, take the other half and place it on your lip, then apply translucent powder and then apply a final coat on the centre of your lip.
